HAPPY 10-YEAR ANNIVERSARY, DIAMOND TRAVEL COMPANY!!!

2010-2020:  Several years ago I decided that I wanted to delve into the travel industry so I enrolled in an extensive training program, completed all courses, and in December 2009 I sat for the nationally-recognized Travel Agent Proficiency (TAP) certification examination and PASSED!  I contemplated working part-time at a local travel agency, but it was my Mom who guided me on the path to start my own business.  She and I spent countless hours talking about different ventures – from bus trips to cruises to traveling abroad – and she kept telling me, “You’re a natural, you can do this, Mel!”  She was ALWAYS my biggest supporter and I was so inspired by her enthusiasm and her confidence in me that I stepped out on faith.  Why not, right?  After all, I had the greatest inspiration from the one person who knew me inside/out.  In January 2010, Diamond Travel Company was born!  

I will never forget my first Diamond Travel adventure (also motivated by my Mom) -- a bus trip to New York to see Memphis, a Broadway musical.  We had lunch at Bubba Gump Shrimp and had time for some local shopping and Junior’s Cheesecake before returning to Maryland.  It was a huge success and became a very popular excursion.  Diamond Travel grew at a rapid pace and before I knew it I was planning trips and cruises for family members, friends, co-workers, and got many referrals along the way.  In addition to annual vacations, I have planned birthdays, anniversaries, honeymoons, and other parties/celebrations in several locales.  I have helped bring smiles to many children’s faces at Walt Disney World, Disneyland, and on Disney cruises.  I have organized family reunion events.  I specialize in YOU, whether it’s a solo trip or a group adventure.  If you can dream it, together we can attain it!  I believe that the personal attention to detail I give to each and every one of my customers is what helps to make Diamond Travel successful.  Simply put, I truly love and enjoy what I do!

Over the last decade I have had many triumphs and am grateful for my business, but I have also had some pain.  In December 2014, I lost my biggest cheerleader, my Mom.  I almost quit.  On tough days when I feel my energy is sapped I have to listen intently to her voice in my spirit telling me, “You can do this, Mel!” in order for me to push forward.  Diamond Travel was born out of love and I will continue to extend that to all who entrust their travels to me.

I’m excited about my anniversary cruise on the Symphony of the Seas next month and have planned a surprise party to honor my guests!  Yes, I give back!  I have several trips coming up in 2020 for family and friends and each will receive a special perk.  :-)  And I am working on a NY Broadway trip in memory of my Mom to celebrate “our” anniversary.  I could not have made it 10 years without each of YOU and I want you to know that I appreciate your support more than you know!!!  If you still need to plan your upcoming travels, please do not hesitate to contact me.
